FAQs

What type of payment do you accept?

I accept cash, check, or credit card (cash or check preferred). Payment is due at the time of service for consultations, trainings, and counseling services. For testing services, payments will be made in installments with partial payment due after the intake, partial due after the conclusion of testing, and the remainder due after you have received the final report/feedback.

Do you accept insurance?

I do not accept insurance at this time. However, I understand that costs can be of concern, and will work to help you receive reimbursement from your insurance company for services that are eligible. Additionally, if  your employer offers a Flexible Savings Account (FSA) or Health Savings  Account (HSA) you are also eligible to receive reimbursement. This method can actually less expensive in the long run for many clients, rather than going through insurance companies, and allows me to provide the best care possible to the maximum number of clients. Connect with me for any other questions about payment and insurance - I will happily answer any questions you may have!

Where are you located?

My office is located at 4322 Buffalo Road, North Chili, NY 14514. This location is within Pearce Church - If you walk into the main lobby, I will meet you there and walk you to my office, so you know where to go. Parking is available on Orchard Street across from the church, and on the side of the church, in between the church building and Roberts Wesleyan University campus. There is ample parking, but feel free to shoot me a text or give me a call if you are unsure of where to go.

Are you a Christian service?

Although my office is located within a church, my services are not exclusively Christian. All religious and non-religious backgrounds are welcomed. Although I can incorporate a Christian world-view and perspective into services if desired/requested, I am welcoming and respectful to all beliefs, experiences, and walks-of-life. My location was chosen out of a desire to provide more counseling and psychological services to the west-side of the greater Rochester area. This location is centrally located on the west-side and is near the highway, which proves convenient for many clients!

Do you offer tele-health appointments?

Yes.  I use a HIPAA compliant platform through my electronic health record, SimplePractice.

What are your office hours?

Tuesday: 3:30pm - 6:30pm (tele-health or in-person)

Thursday: 3:30pm - 6:30pm (tele-health or in person)

Saturday: 8:30am-12:30pm (tele-health only)

Other times may be available upon request.

*More hours/flexibility are offered during most school breaks and during the summer months.

What is your cancellation policy?

If  you do not show up for your scheduled therapy appointment, and have not notified me at least 24 hours in advance, you will be required to pay the full cost of the session, as that hour was reserved for you. There are of course exceptions in cases of bad weather, illnesses, emergencies, etc. I try to be as fair and understanding as possible!

Why do clients seek your services?

My services include short-term and long-term therapy for children and adolescents ages 3-18, psychological and educational testing, parent support, consultations, and trainings. Clients seek my services if they are looking for therapy/therapeutic skills for their child, wanting to learn parenting skills (especially for younger children), or looking for private psychological/educational assessments. Additionally, parents/guardians may want to discuss testing results received from their child’s school that might be confusing, they might be wondering about diagnosis, or sometimes organizations/programs might be looking for a training for adults who work with children and adolescents.

What can I expect from psychological/educational testing?

If you are looking for psychological/educational testing, contact me for a free, 15 minute initial consultation. Once that information is gathered and you have decided that you would like to use my service, we will schedule an intake session that will include a full social/developmental history, a full discussion about concerns/reasons for seeking testing, and a determination for what testing is needed to address the presenting concerns. This session can be conducted in person, or via tele-health and the first installment for the total cost of the testing will be due at the conclusion. We will then schedule another session, in-person, where I will conduct the testing and give the parent/guardian appropriate rating scales. The testing process can take a few hours, depending on what testing we are doing, and can be completed in one session or can be split up into two sessions, if needed. Another installment of the total payment will be due at the end of the testing session. Once the testing is completed, I will take time to score the tests and write up a full report of the results. In some cases, the results of the testing might lead to additional questions that would require additional testing to answer. If that is the case, I will let you know, so that we can proceed how we best see fit. Once my report is completed, you will be sent a signed copy. We will then have a final feedback session where I explain the results of the testing and answer any questions you may have. The feedback session can be conducted via tele-health or in person. The final installment for the service will be due at the end of the feedback session.

What can I expect from your therapeutic work with my child/adolescent?

If you are looking for psychological counseling for your child/adolescent, contact me for a free, 15 minute initial consultation. Once that information is gathered and you have decided that you would like to use my service, we will schedule an intake session. The intake session will include a full discussion about concerns/reasons for seeking counseling, history of the presenting concerns, severity, frequency, etc., questions you have, and what you are looking for in a counselor/counseling service. The intake will also include a full social/developmental history and I will spend some time getting to know your child better, 1:1. The intake can take 1-2 sessions to complete. Once the intake is completed, a feedback session will be scheduled, in which I will discuss with you my diagnostic impressions and treatment plan. At the end of this session we will plan together the appropriate course of action. Options can include: short-term skill building sessions (usually about 10-12 sessions), longer-term therapy (continue with therapy until no longer needed or desired), or parent work only.

Are your services confidential?

Yes, with some exceptions. The law protects the confidentiality of all communications between a client and a psychologist. I will not disclose any information without written permission. The exceptions to confidentiality include, but are not limited to:

  • If I am told or have reason to believe that a child, elderly person or disabled person is being abused. In this case, I am mandated (required) to file a report with the appropriate state agency.

  • If a client/parent is threatening serious bodily harm to another person. In this case, I am required to notify the potential victim or contact the police department.

  • If a client/parent is threatening to harm him or herself.  In this case, I am obligated to seek hospitalization and to contact a family member or another individual who can provide protection.

  • A court order could require me to release information contained in records or require me to testify in a court hearing.

If you have other questions, please contact me and I'll do my best to answer them.
